The “I’m Done Hiding” Manifesto

I’m done with the smoky basements.

For a long time, I was told that the only way to stay sober was to stay hidden. I was told to sit in flickering fluorescent light, drink stale coffee, and keep my story a secret. I walked into meetings and saw court-mandated paperwork, a “grungy” atmosphere, and a room where I didn’t see a single person who looked like me.

It wasn’t my jam. It wasn’t my cup of tea. And it certainly wasn’t my path to healing.

I’m officially trading anonymity for visibility. I don’t want a “program” that feels like a punishment. I want a life that feels like a luxury. I want recovery in Technicolor—bright, vivid, and unapologetic.

Anonymity breeds shame, and I have nothing to be ashamed of. I am a survivor, a business person, and a human being who chose clarity over the fog. If you’ve ever walked into a meeting, looked around, and felt like an outsider—I am building a new room for us.

No smoke. No secrets. Just the light.

Who’s coming with me? ☀️✨
